Very pleased to learn that the International Development Design Summit (IDDS) in Boston, running this month, will be using Appropedia for documenting their projects

There is an enormous amount of knowledge locked up in PDF and Word documents, which could be shared on wikis such as Appropedia, if only it could be easily converted.

So you want to extend the toolbar for your mediawiki editors? I know I do. Here is how I did it:
First copy and paste the code at http://www.appropedia.org/MediaWiki:Common.js

Projects like the Hexayurt project benefit from being on Appropedia - so much of the site management, page maintenance, antivandalism work is taken care of. What's more, by being on a site with so much relevant content, it's easy to cross-link to and from other pages, to show up on searches, and make connections with other people and organizations.

So the upgrade of MediaWiki (MW) to 1.11 was successful, thanks to Gabe!

This is my first blog entry on Appropedia. Eventually I will make more personal blog entries, but it seems like this will be a good place to chronicle some of the mediawiki fun we get to have.
